Who can apply for exchange?

All DTU students have the possibility to study abroad as part of their study programme. Regardless of whether you are a BEng-, BSc- or MSc student, you will be able to go on exchange for a semester. However, we encourage you to talk with your Head of Studies or Study Guidance to see, when may be the best time to go in regards to your individual study programme.

DTU has more than 100 partner universities around the world and even at some of the highly ranked universities, they do not necessarily require a high GPA for their intake of international exchange students. In other words, there are many great possibilities to go on exchange for all DTU students even if you do not have a very high GPA.

You can learn much more about how we assess your application and the role of your GPA here.

To be eligible to apply, we require that you:

  • are enrolled in a full-time degree at the time of your application
  • have passed a minimum of 110 ECTS before departure on your current study programme (not relevant for master students)
  • have studied for a minimum of two years at university level
  • are able to transfer a minimum of 20 ECTS from your studies abroad, but we both expect and recommend for you to be a full-time student and complete 30 ECTS per semester*

*Please be aware that your host university abroad may require you to enroll in more than 20 ECTS.
