In case of an emergency

It is always a good idea to have thought situations of emergencies through before your exchange, so you know what to do and who to contact.

Before departure
Before you go on exchange there are a several things you can do to make sure that you are well prepared in case of an emergency.

First of all, you can go and register yourself at Danskerlisten on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs does also have a travel guide for all countries with a Danish embassy. We recommend that you consult the specific travel guide for your destination in terms of risks, warnings and other good advice.

It is always a good idea to reach out to fellow DTU students going to your host university, city or country. Talk to them and your nearest family and friends about what to do in case of an emergency, so you are prepared and have a plan of action.

On arrival to your host university
When you arrive to your destination, go talk to representatives from the university and make research on what to do in case of an emergency. Ask for relevant phone numbers – on the local police and local health services – and relevant addresses. Keep the numbers on you at all times.
