Drexel University, USA

Rules, rights and obligations

You can receive the Erasmus+ grant more than once if you study abroad through Erasmus+ multiple times during your studies. Maximum 12 months during your bachelor and 12 months during your Master.

If you receive other types of EU funding for your stay abroad (e.g. Erasmus Mundus) you will not be eligible for the Erasmus+ grant.

Rights and obligations

As an Erasmus+ student, you are covered by the Erasmus+ Student Charter. The Charter describes your rights as an Erasmus+ student as well as the requirements you must live up to.

Furthermore, you must live up to DTU rules regarding exchange and documentation linked to the Erasmus+ grant. Make sure to upload the required documentation to your grant application in Beyond Borders before and after your stay, within the set deadlines.

You are obliged to let us know of any changes to your stay abroad (changes to start and end dates, your choice of courses, etc.). If you do not live up to the obligations, including the required documentation, you risk having to pay back all or parts of your grant.

Physical presence in the host country

In order to receive the Erasmus+ grant, the minimum duration of the study period abroad must be 2 months or an academic term.

For semesters affected by Covid-19, the EU Commission has so far allowed the grant to be awarded regardless of whether the teaching at the host university takes place online, physically or in blended mode. Please note, however, that the grant can only be awarded if the student is physically present in the host country. You are not eligible for the grant if you choose to follow online teaching at the host university from Denmark (or any country but the host country).

You may be asked to document your physical stay upon completion of the semester. So make sure you save your travel itinerary, rental agreement etc.

Longer interruptions of the physical stay (e.g. if you go back to your home country during the exam period) will be registered as “interruption days” and will not count as part of the funded stay. Official holidays / semester breaks like e.g. the Christmas holidays will not be deducted if you return physically for the studies or exam period after the break.
