Calculation and payment

The size of the grant is determined by the EU Commission and can change from year to year.

There are different rates depending on the destination. In 2024/25 students receive 500-550 euro per 30 days. The grant is calculated from the first day you need to be present at the host university (semester start or intro week) and to the last day (typically the day of your last exam).

Payment

The grant is paid out in two instalments:

- The first instalment, 80% of the total grant, is paid out around semester start, when the grant agreement has been signed. Please note that the grant agreement cannot be issued before all other documents have been uploaded and approved.

- The second instalment is paid out after the end of the study period abroad when we have received and accepted your departure confirmation and the EU survey (and travel documentation if you have received the Green Travel rate).

The grant period is calculated based on information about the general duration of the semester (as communicated in the acceptance letter or on the host university webpage). Before the payment of the second instalment, the size of the grant will be adjusted to match the actual duration of the study period abroad (as documented in your departure confirmation). Please note that the total grant size cannot exceed the grant stated in the original grant agreement.

If your actual studies abroad start earlier and/or end later and you wish to apply for an extension of the grant period, you must contact us at the latest one month before the original end date of the grant agreement.

If, by the calculation of the second rate, it turns out that you have already received more than you are eligible for (for the entire semester) you will be asked to repay the excess payment.

The Erasmus+ grant will be paid to your NEM-account.
